Nature table sounds great, I really want to try it. Did you post the e-book, I'm not sure where to find it?

Wendy - how wonderful that you've incorporated a nature table into your home lives. We've had a nature table before, but I feel like we're finally getting the hang of it. It's a really fun way to connect with the season. Love it! Thanks so much for your comment.

As an early childhood professional with various types of experiences in care and school settings, it has been a little hard for me to take a step back and do what is best for my own daughter.

Now that she is almost 5 and a half, we have established more of a rhythm and a reverence for the natural world than we did in the first couple of years. We've maintained a nature table since the school year began, and now I can't imagine not having one!

Thanks as always for the great information.

Jen, so glad you're enjoying the blog. I agree wholeheartedly that food, the stories, and just spending time together without distractions are all such wonderful ways to celebrate special days. Thanks so much for your thoughtful response. Hope you are enjoying this beautiful spring we're having!

Another great post! Regarding the nature/seasonal table - it's amazing that if you *don't* have something very organic in there (tree branches, rocks, pine cones, etc), it just doesn't have the same magic. It's important to have something from nature that wasn't man-made to really bring it to its fullest glory :D

As far as holidays go, to me, our most valued traditions are one that we received in our own childhood. So making the same foods our family ate during those holidays that bring in our heritage bring our ancestry to the forefront. I try to do that with DH's family, as well and my FIL loves that I bring in the Italian stuff. Also I'm a big fan of reading the same stories each holiday and holding off on reading them throughout the year so they hold a special reverence (similar to what you mentioned about the Halloween costume!). Being together without distractions/media/tv/phones is wonderful - family games, family meals, and snuggling!

Another great post! So enjoying your blog!
